This is a translation of a report which was published at the beginning of 2008 in Finnish. It is a critical analysis of the Finnish education system, that focuses especially on equality.

Finland has an excellent reputation abroad on education. Despite this we have challenges that we have to face in the near future. The success in the OECD’s Pisa survey doesn’t show the challenges which concerns societal inequality, for example. The report reviews widely these problems and gives reform proposals that could help to achieve a more equal education system. The report includes significant proposals for upper secondary school reform and it address adult educations chances in managing social and labour market changes.
